Invasión - "La Caza" (La Vida Es Un Mus)

Invasion – “La Caza” – La Vida Es Un Mus
Cost: $4 (markdown bin)
Another “Not Technically a Dollar-Bin-Ripper,” but the quality-to-price comparison on this record is so out of whack that it’s worthy of a post. This record is the reason that I will buy every single punk record that comes out of Barcelona. Of all of the records that start with thunder, this is the only one that isn’t immediately cringe inducing. The ability that this group of Spaniards had to write song after song of pure hardcore mayhem is unreal. The guitars howl and feedback for more than three minutes before the drums slowly come in and then you're gifted 15 minutes of non-linear d-beat madness. This might also be the only LP of this scene that somehow utilizes “the black metal chord” in a breakdown.
The guitars and drums on this album are non-stop ripping, (even when they’re just making noise) but the signature vocal-delay is what made this album really stick with me – there will never be a phase in my musical life when I don’t pump my fist at the first “HAHAHAHAHA” in a somehow non-GISM G.I.S.M. laugh. Seeing this band live is an experience I’ll never forget, and seeing this record in cheapo bins makes me yearn for the day that every punk on planet earth goes deaf listening to Spanish hardcore.

As if you needed any more reasons to track down this un-fucking-real record, people from this band went on to do the incredible DESTINO FINAL, UNA BESTIA INCONTROLABLE, CROSTA, and (I think?) GLAM. It’s very easy to use Eskorbando (because of Spain) or Disgroup (because of sound) to describe this, but it’s just not worth it to try to put this record into a cubbyhole. This is a modern classic.
(note:  this is the US tour version and isn't a Dollar-Bin-Ripper, but the standard version very much is available in tons of cheapo bins.  Hunt it down)
