Fergus & Geronimo - Blind Muslim Girl (Tic Tac Totally)
As far as I understand it, Fergus & Geronimo were a two piece from Denton, TX, featuring Andrew Savage of Teenage Cool Kids (now of Parquet Courts) and Jason Kelly of Wax Museums fame. Without sounding much like either band, F&G certainly sound like the sum of its parts on this record. The title track, "Blind Muslim Girl" is a short/sweet power pop number that is worth the price of admission in itself. Toe tapping jam and certified party platter, for sure.
The flip, "Powerful Lovin'", is a more subdued take on what could inevitably only come to sound like middle class caucasian gentlemen acknowledging the power of American SOUL. I admire their attempt, but this band truly shines when they're doing what they do best, as evidenced on the A side of this record.

I grabbed this for a couple of bucks in a Nashville record store last year, and I imagine you could do the same in your city or town.
